The AUC and AFCAC’s Legal Advisor undertook substantial work on the following under listed Institutional and Regulatory Texts of the Yamoussoukro Decision (YD).:
- Competition Rules,
- Consumer Protection Regulations, and
- Regulatory and Enforcement Powers of the Executing Agency.
The Regulatory Texts were adopted by the Bureau of the Conference of African Ministers of Transport, based on the recommendation of the last meeting of the Conference of African Ministers of Transport (CAMT).
In May-June 2016, the AUC in collaboration with AFCAC reviewed and synthesized theseTexts in order to eliminate any textual errors and to realign them to comply with the AU legal requirements.
However, due to promulgations of new AU Rules of Procedures, the Texts had to be resubmitted to the Specialised Technical Committee of Transport (STC) of the AU, (formerly CAMT), STC on Justice and Legal Affairs and the Executive Council for consideration by all these Organs before they were finally adopted by the Assembly of Heads of States and Government in January 2018.
